The Spiral

This look was created for a class project but was heavily inspired by different aspects of my childhood, but primarily the many figure skating costumes I wore and performed in over my 15 years as a skater. I always loved the costumes we wore and found they made me and my team so confident, and I wanted to translate that into a more wearable piece. So this backless mock neck mini dress features, a stretchy velvet over dress with hand made gold details, and a ruffle mini skirt that sits under the skirt to help give it shape. I decided to call it the spiral because that is both a figure skating move and the shape that inspired this garment, you will also notice the gold details I added are spirals.
